Jacqui Bird - Independent Celebrant
I have 25 years’ experience working with couples and families and it gives me great pleasure to be able to integrate my skills and experience to provide beautiful personal ceremonies that capture the essence of your love story.
I work with clients to craft ceremonies for funerals, memorials, weddings, the renewal of vows, and naming ceremonies.
My own personal journey as a celebrant began 26 years ago when I delivered a personal eulogy at a funeral of someone very close to me, it was as important then as it is today to create a ceremony that told the life story with warmth and love. A story that captured and honoured the best moments of the persons life, with beautiful contributions and heartfelt feelings I was able to make a valuable contribution at the funeral, remembering every detail of importance and gently weaving it all together with kindness and compassion.
Ceremonies reflect and honour a person’s life, they can be enriched with personal tributes and music that has meaning, it is a day to remember forever more.

You may have visited my other website www.jacquibirdcounselling.co.uk where you will have viewed my profile as a counsellor and psychotherapist, and although the work of a celebrant is very different to that of a celebrant, I believe that my values and unique skills are transferable and therefore I am able to offer you a service that promotes inclusivity, based on my experience and continuous professional development.
As an independent celebrant I advocate for equality and social justice through my work and make valuable contributions by promoting understanding and acceptance.
I am committed to my clients and ensure that all individuals are treated with respect and without prejudice, ensuring that ceremonies are inclusive and personalised to the client’s needs.
It is important to choose a celebrant that you feel you can connect with, although it is not mandatory for celebrants to be qualified, it really does matter to me that I provide you with the best service I can offer you, which is why I chose to attend my celebrant training with the International College of Professional Celebrants and chose an accredited program of study, leading to a Platinum Diploma qualification to provide you with the reassurance you need when making your choice and to be able to reassure you that I am fully equipped to confidently write and deliver a wide range of ceremonies for you.
My former qualifications and experience relevant to my role as a celebrant include an MA in relationship therapy, an advanced certificate in grief and bereavement for families, a specialist certificate in infant loss and a professional certificate in effective practice.
My experience and qualifications have enabled me to successfully work with couples and families for the past 24 years with an ability to be able to connect and bring empathy and compassion to our time together, capturing the essence of personal stories, listening to them and understanding what matters to you as we work together to find new meaning.
I am proud to call myself an inclusive independent celebrant, this means that I accept and understand that each ceremony is different, personal and unique to the client and their families. Together we will work together, sharing ideas and creating a ceremony that meets your individual needs. Valuing, differences and promoting diversity and equalty.
I am an honest, trustworthy, and reliable celebrant with strong ethical values and principles, committed to establishing a professional working relationship you can depend on.
I place a relationship of trust at the heart of everything I do. When clients trust me with one of the most important events of their lives and the final care of their loved ones, It is a real privilege for me and I do my very best to connect with you and make the experience client focused, offering you my complete support, listening to what matters to you and enabling you to make choices that are personal to you throughout the process.
Offering care and support is about making sure that our time together matters, your ceremony is personal and unique to you.
I bring to your experience, expertise and empathy by respecting your individual choices and walking along side you during the process and following up with you afterwards offering grief support and family and relationship support if required.
Showing respect involves kindness, listening, valuing others' views, treating people equally, and upholding their rights and customs, fostering trust and safety in relationships.
There are so many choices available to you when planning a ceremony and although we may hold many differences, I will accept and respect what is important to you.
Empathy is about having the ability to recognise, understand, and see things from another person’s perspective, almost like “putting myself in your shoes”. Holding empathy and providing it to others has been a core condition of my former training and I bring this natural ability to couples and families when working with them to create a special day that is filled with meaning and totally unique to them.
"Thankyou for all your support, your patience and understanding, couldn't have done it without you."
